Please note that we have relocated our Camp. Our Camp is now situated near the Lokan River, upriver from our previous Camp.

Important
Note for 2008 bookings: |
 |
"Uncle Tan's Wildlife Camp operates at the
present place (Danau Girang, Kinabatangan) by way of
written permission from the Government since 1990. We
have been operating at our present location for more
than 18 years.
In 2007, we were invited by the authorities to discuss
about the status of Uncle Tan's Wildlife Camp at Danau
Girang. We have been informed that there are plans by
the authorities to develop the jungle area where we
are located.
We have not been categorically asked to move out of
our present place but have instead been issued a further
written permission for us to occupy the present place
till the end of 2007. We have also been asked to apply
for extension to further our stay at the present location,
which we have done.
In order to better clarify the position, we have
also held discussions with and have written to the Ministry
to review Uncle Tan's Wildlife Camp's position at the
present location. Steps have also been taken to explain
our position and background in support of our continued
stay at our present location. At the present moment,
though we have been verbally given to understand that
at least extension would be given, we have yet to receive
any written confirmation from the authorities or Ministry
on the matter.
On our part, we plan to continue operating and
do not have intentions to close our operations and are
following up on the matter with the hope that continued
operations at our current location would be given. Due
to the matters mentioned above, while we do not expect
adverse governmental directives soon, all bookings are
taken on a conditional basis with a frank disclosure
of the uncertainty that we are experiencing."

FAQ
Q: Can you please provide a reference number
for our booking?
A: We are a small company and have not evolved into the
sophistication of generating reference numbers for bookings.
We still use the old fashion way of recording bookings
in the names of our visitors. Besides, we prefer to
refer to our visitors by their names and not by reference
numbers.
[Important Note: We DO NOT have agents who can book or take visitors
to our Camp. We handle bookings directly and we control
and carry out all arrangements to take visitors to Camp.
Please note that bookings can only be made via email
to eugene@uncletan.com or natt@uncletan.com or by calling
our Ops Base at (6) 089-535784 or Mobile Phone 016-
8244749.
We also DO NOT have agents who have been authorised
to collect payment or deposit on our behalf. Payment
is to be made at our Ops Base or where pre-arranged,
by transfer to our company account. We will NOT acknowledge
payment made to third parties.]

FAQ
Q: Is the Wildlife Camp,
Operations Base/B&B at the same place or nearby
each other?
A: The Wildlife
Camp is at the Kinabatangan River. Our Operations Base/B&B
is in Sepilok, at Mile 14, outside Sandakan. These
are 2 different places - quite apart in distance
from each other. Visitors come to our Ops Base first.
We then organise things and leave at 2:30 p.m. for the
Kinabatangan river by van en route to Camp. At the river,
our boats will then take visitors to Camp.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: The cost for the Standard 3D/2N trip is RM 380.00 per person. Subject to availability of space, extended stay is possible. The cost for each day extended is RM 80.00 per person.
It is possible to stay one night at the Camp although to get the best experience, we recommend two night's stay. With a night's stay, you will still get to do one night safari as well as one morning safari but you won't have enough time to do the guided trek in the jungle the next day as you would be leaving the Camp. As for cost, we will deduct RM 80.00 being the charges of one day's stay less. The cost would be RM 300.00 per person.
The price is ex our Ops Base in Sepilok and it covers transportation by van to and from the Kinabatangan River, transportation by boat to and from the Camp, all river Safaris, jungle treks, accommodation in camp huts, 3 meals a day (B,L,D), coffee/tea available all day plus some tea time snacks and biscuits. There are no hidden costs, no guide fees, no surprises - as plain as that.
The things you may want to purchase from our staff co-operative canteen would be beer, bottled water and soft drinks. Beer, bottled water and soft drinks are NOT included in the price.
